TREASURES OF VALAAM

3 days/ 2 nights

Day 1:

• Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Transfer to the restaurant. Breakfast.
• 08:30 – City tour of Petrozavodsk. You will get acquainted with the history of the capital of Karelia and see its places of interest. Photo stop near the monument to Peter the Great.
• Departure for Sortavala (250 km).
• A short stop in an ancient Karelian village of Kinerma. Lunch in a Karelian house.
• Arrival at Sortavala. City tour. Accommodation.
• Dinner.

Day 2:

• Breakfast. Departure for Valaam.
• Excursion in the central monastery complex. You will visit the functioning churches of the monastery and learn interesting facts about the history of this sacred place. You will also listen to the choir of the Valaam Monastery. Lunch in the monastery’s refectory.
• Excursion to the old monastery’s grave yard and to the Nikolsky skete.
• Accommodation at the monastery’s hotel. Free time. Dinner.

Day 3:

• Breakfast.
• Boat excursion to the rocky shore and defense constructions of the Valaam Archipelago. You will get acquainted with the unique ecosystem of the Valaam archipelago, admire the scenic bays and the enormous space of the Ladoga Lake. The rocky shore of Valam is one of the most interesting sights on the island.
• Hydrofoil to Sortavala.
• Dinner. Transfer to the railway station in Petrozavodsk.
